1. Who you are contracting with

Japanese Flow is a sole proprietorship operated by Tamon Shikai and registered in Japan. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Japanese Flow, and "you" means the person purchasing or receiving lessons. Contact details and statutory business disclosures are on the 特定商取引法に基づく表記 page.

2. What we provide

We provide scheduled one-to-one Japanese language lessons of 50 minutes, delivered live by video call and taught personally by Tamon. We do not sell recorded courses, downloadable products or physical goods through this website.

Lessons are teaching services. We prepare material suited to your level and correct your Japanese during the lesson. We do not guarantee any particular examination result, proficiency level or timeframe for reaching one, because outcomes depend substantially on your own practice between lessons.

3. Booking and payment

A lesson is booked when you and Tamon have agreed a date and time by email and payment has been completed. Payment is taken at the time of purchase by credit or debit card, processed by Stripe. Prices are as published on the lessons and pricing page at the time of purchase.

The monthly plan renews automatically every 28 days at the price stated when you subscribed. If we change the price of the plan, we will tell you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect, and you may cancel before it applies.

4. Attendance, rescheduling and expiry

Rescheduling requires at least 24 hours notice by email before the lesson start time. Inside 24 hours, and in the case of non-attendance, the lesson counts as delivered. Lessons purchased under the monthly plan expire at the end of the 28-day cycle in which they were bought.

If we cause a lesson to be missed, that lesson is not counted against you. The full position, including the situations in which we refund you, is set out in the refund and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.

5. Your responsibilities

You agree to join lessons at the agreed time, to provide your own internet connection and device, and to treat Tamon with courtesy. Lessons are one-to-one; please do not share your lesson link or admit other participants without agreement in advance.

Lesson materials we send you are for your personal study. Please do not redistribute, resell or publish them. Recording a lesson requires Tamon's agreement beforehand.

6. When we may end lessons

We may decline or discontinue service, and will refund any lessons paid for but not delivered, in cases of abusive or threatening behaviour toward the teacher, repeated non-attendance without notice, or fraudulent or unauthorised payment. Where we end service for any other reason, unused paid lessons are refunded in full.

7. Limits on our liability

We provide lessons with reasonable skill and care. Where we are liable to you in connection with these terms, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the affected lesson or lessons. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the applicable law, or affects any statutory consumer rights you have.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version that applies to a lesson is the version published on this page when you purchased that lesson. Material changes affecting the monthly plan will be notified by email at least 14 days in advance.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, and the courts of Japan have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them. This does not remove the protection of any mandatory consumer law of your country of residence that applies to you regardless.
